Day 16 - Opu Gut Health Journey - Let’s Get Moving, Literally.

Welcome to Day 16 of your 30-Day Opu Gut Health Journey!

Today we are highlighting another powerful tool for gut health, movement.
When you go for a walk - especially after a meal - your gut loves it. Here's what happens in your digestive system during and after a walk:

🔄 1. Stimulates Peristalsis

Walking helps activate peristalsis, the wave-like muscle contractions that move food through your digestive tract. This means your food gets processed more efficiently and waste moves along more smoothly.

💨 2. Reduces Bloating and Gas

Light movement encourages gas to move through the intestines instead of getting trapped. That’s why walking can ease bloating and reduce that “too full” feeling.

⏱️ 3. Improves Transit Time

Regular walking can lead to more regular bowel movements. It helps prevent constipation by keeping things flowing in the colon.

🧠 4. Supports the Gut-Brain Axis

Movement reduces stress hormones and boosts feel-good chemicals like serotonin—much of which is made in the gut. Less stress = better digestion.

🍽️ 5. Aids Post-Meal Blood Sugar

Walking after eating slows glucose absorption, helping your body handle blood sugar better. This reduces insulin spikes and may help with fat storage and energy regulation.

The good news is, you do not need to become a marathon runner to feel the benefits. Even 10–15 minutes of walking can make a noticeable difference in how your gut processes food.

Movement is truly one of the most underrated ways to support gut health, and it feels good too!
