Day 12 - Gut Health Journey - Got Gas? Why It Can Be Both a Good and Bad Sign!

Day 12 - Gut Health Journey - Got Gas? Why It Can Be Both a Good and Bad Sign!

Welcome to Day 12 of your 30-Day Opu Gut Health Journey!

Let’s get real, everybody deals with gas sometimes. And believe it or not, a little gas 💨 can actually be a good thing!

It often means your gut bacteria 🦠 are working hard, breaking down the fiber and prebiotics you have been feeding them. That fermentation process naturally produces gas as a byproduct.

But if you are experiencing excessive, painful 😑, or really foul-smelling 🦨 gas on a regular basis, it could mean your gut bacteria are out of balance or struggling to digest something you are eating.

The key is to tune into your body. A little occasional gas? Totally normal and even a good sign. Ongoing discomfort or major changes? That might be worth chatting with a doctor or dietitian about and definitely worth considering adding more pre + probiotics to your diet!

Gut-Healthy Food for the Day:

Jerusalem artichokes (also called sunchokes)! (No, this is not ginger, but it kinda looks like it!)

They’re loaded with inulin, a powerful prebiotic fiber that feeds the good bacteria in your gut. You can roast them like potatoes, blend them into soups, or shave them raw into salads. Just go easy at first - this prebiotic powerhouse can be a little gassy until your microbiome gets used to it. 😉

Random Health Fact (We Care About More Than Just Your Gut!):

Listening to music you love can lower stress hormones like cortisol, boost immune function, and even improve digestion.

(Pro tip: Make a “feel good” playlist and hit play during your meals or walks.)
